You've got to be pretty cruel to crush the spirits of your child like that. I hopse s/he doesn't end up comitting suicide.
I wish gender change drugs like that would be real, but this clearly shows a need for heavy regulation. I could definitely see people doing something like this in real life.
Well, people have done a lot worse (in real life) with all sorts of self-justification. "It's for her own good!" "What's so bad about being a girl, anyway?" This sort of thing could only happen in a world where that sort of behaviour was considered normal; our culture has it's own barbarity too, which might seem equally cruel to an outsider...
