She's just doing what she's always done. I guess they were just two sexist jerk science nerds who had an accident in the lab one day, and our lead character here is too stubborn to do anything to adapt to being a woman.
Like any other transgendered person? Too stubborng to accept their real sex?
I think it works pretty well in that light. Being a universe that tries to be somewhat realistic in how gender works. Obviously S/he doesn't want to accept/deal/adapt to her situation. And unless this sex change also came with a magical gender change there is no reason why s/he should.
That's a fair comment - not just regarding this cap, but TG fiction generally, actually. Admittedly, most TG fiction wouldn't really work if a guy got zapped by a fem-ray, turned into a woman, and then spent the next decade on hormones and surgery to turn male again. But then, how much of gender identity is innate, really? Obviously, some people feel like 'men/women trapped in the bodies of women/men' and a lot of people don't, but there's probably a lot of people in the middle who would be equally happy as either sex. I think my stuff tends to be about people who fall somewhere in the middle, identity-wise but are changed by circumstances at least partly beyond their control - adapting to their new sex is difficult, but not impossible.
Lol. I'm curious who s/he's living with that they warranted this kind of reaction.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you shouldn't flash your roomate like that?
