Basically don't dictate your child whatever it should do. If you just want to dominate your child's live maybe the boy shouldn't be girled but you should go into therapy. Or get guy-ed. Or both.
Thinking about it, maybe you could make a caption about that. Psychotic mother wants to girl her son, but authorities stop her and have her boyed instead so that s/he can develop some empathy for the situation of his/her son :)
Anyway, it's kinda horrifying idea that someone would actually need that advice. I mean to get a teenager you've had to have been a parent for at least a decade. If a person still hasn't realized that children also need freedom...
Beyogi - you're absolutely right that this is creepy and manipulative and wrong, and yet these stories come from a world where that's considered normal and acceptable. Moral values and norms are very subjective. I suppose I ought to point out that this whole idea of maternal feminisation has its roots in psychoanalysis. According to Freud, a male child of 4 or so discovers that girls don't have penises, and assumes that they've been castrated. Freud assumed the child believed the father was responsible, but some of his pupils attributed it to the mother. Stories like these are an attempt on my part to access that subconscious fantasy, to flesh it out and make sense of it all. As for a story where the mother is held accountable? Maybe I should do one...? Anonymous - glad you like it!

Oh wow, this is genius. Very manipulative, reminds me of some earlier captions...
ReplyDeleteAlso interesting to see more stuff about sexuality/boyfriends/girlfriends etc
