Yeah, you've probably got a point. British football is not exactly the home of progressive values of respect and inclusiveness, is it? However, like most of my captions, I think you just have to assume that this is set in a near-future world where the boundaries between genders are rather more fluid than they are currently. If we can suspend our disbelief enough to permit the existence of affordable same-day automatic gender-change surgery, then why not allow the possibility that a significant section of the sporting media might accept a transgendered football star?
