Beyogi - these are very, very good questions. In truth, however I have no idea. I was more interested in the group dynamics and the idea of a jealous sissy longing to get the op. 'Get rid of natural born women' however sounds a bit much like a cull for my liking. Let's assume that some group of weirdoes decided that this was the optimum way for human gender to work and went off and colonised a planet or something. They rejiggered the guys sperm so there were no X-chromosomes in the sperm, and they set to work building their new society. As for how they decide who goes girl? I guess when kids are relatively little you just ask them... They live as pre-op until their mid teens. Glad you both liked it!
Clare - Yeah this makes kinda sense. If we're dealing with a post-depopulation event world here where all women got killed off/genetic women just aren't feasible anymore. Basically the gendercide virus worked better.
In that case you'd probably just artificially introduce transgenderism in the womb in 50% of the babies.
Rachel - That could work too. I suppose you'd get women and men that are far more similar in socialization that way. Might be interesting to see if and what behavioral differences there'd be between the trans-women of your planet and natural women. (Mad social-scientist intensifies)
Yeah - that's sort of what fascinates me about this stuff. How different are men and women, really? Sometimes it seems like we're basically just the same, other times it seems like there's an ocean between the two sexes. For me, these caps are kind of like fun little thought experiments where I try to figure out what makes the two sexes different and play the mad-social scientist.
Well, I think it's partially that women mature faster. Guys stay children longer. Your people probably wouldn't have that for example. Women would be children for as long as men. I wonder what kind of influence that's going to have on stuff like female grudge-keeping for example. (One of those things where many women strike me as incredibly immature)
Or maybe that's caused by hormones. Though it might be an interesting study to do amongst transitioned transgendered persons, which less admirable qualities of their new sex they display and which not.
I would suspect you'll observe the largest difference between men and women in mating behavior. Everywhere else you'd have a hard time seperating cause and effect. Though maybe experiments like this could help...
Interesting point about maturity. There's several industries dedicated to catering to grown men wanting to relive their childhoods - that's part of why all the comic franchises and Star Wars are doing so well. There's very little of the opposite; very few adult Barbie collectors, etc. I mean, the Jem and the Holograms movie bombed... It is very tangly though, isn't it? The mating/dating stuff alone could fill books. Slashy, slashy books... :)

I think the difference is harshly put men have dreams women have a purpose. I mean what are most girl games? It's basically preparing for life according to a certain social status.
Super heroes, computer games and lego don't really lose the point when you grow up. They fullfill needs life usually can't. Meanwhile dressing up barby dolls? Well adult women can dress themselves up like barby dolls.
Women have good reason to feel bitter about this shit imho. Boys grow wiser and experienced to some degree as they become older, but large parts of our childhood stay with us. And for women? In hindsight it seems more like girls were adults-in-training.
I can understand that feminists are disgusted by it. A dream to be a housewife? WTF. Or a princess? A person grown into oppressive privilege as a result of a feudalistic or capitalistic system? Yikes.
I really wonder what women that actually grew up as boys would be like. Probably a lot less obsessed with social status, I'd guess. Though it would also be interesting to see how natural girls raised by such mothers would develop.
Hm... so they decided to just get rid of natural born women for reasons? Interesting idea, I just wonder what brought in on.
