I wonder what kind of Diagnosis she got. For a sex change "illness" of sorts, or perhaps the Diagnosis that her mind was female and such she should be transformed into a girl...
Wow - I hadn't even thought of the second interpretation! :) I like that, though! Actually, I remember reading a story on Fictionmania a while back on broadly that premise - some teens were being sent away on a space ship to colonise a new world, and the ship's computer decided that one girl was really a boy and one boy was really a girl, and decided to intervene. Pretty good, as I recall. If anyone knows what it was... :)
