Maybe you're right about the bookshelf; it does look a little bare :) And yeah, you're right that she didn't really learn the intended lesson. TG fiction has always had a slightly weird relationship with feminism; it seems to be (partly?) a fetishisation of sexism, where the literal chains of S&M are replaced with the symbolic chains of sexism. But on the other hand, there's also a lot of stuff about female supremacists and male inferiority. There's a weird tangle of contradictions there. I wanted to try writing about a world where men were consider de facto inferior in the same way that women were in our world (until relatively recently, at least), to see if that helped give a different perspective on the matter.
Well... the horribleness on the situation depends on the sort of discrimination/inferiority I think. Do they do the patriarchal "let me do that for you" thing, or do they do the radical feminist "useless male go die" thing?
The interesting thing about feminism in TG fiction is that their recurring themes of misandry are only accepted by a minority. I mean the TGs want to be female, but they usually know that being a guy doesn't mean having it all. Actually it means an almost total lack of empathy towards males and their problems.
I figure it would only get worse in such a society to the point where there would really be a gender war as the situation would become unstandable for men. That's what worries me so much with the recent feminist narrative. They consider gender relations and "equality" a zero sum game and treat it as such.
The problem with your world is that it would inevitably collapse if somehow basic sexuality wouldn't change. Women are hypergamous. If men are not up to their standard they simply don't reproduce until it is too late. I mean there has a reason that there never were high culture matriarchies in human history. And I severely doubt it is because men are just that evil opressors.
yes yes yes i too do so just agree it is far better to be a girl than a boy ugh having this penis thing which i've never ever wanted i want breast and a vagina pussy to play with i want to be all soft and round like girl's are!
